WHO: Part of the University of Kentucky School of Music in the College of Fine Arts, UK Opera Theatre has earned national recognition for producing fully staged operas and musical theatre works. Under the leadership of Dr. Everett McCorvey, the program showcases the vocal talents of UK’s voice students while engaging the Lexington community through high-quality, accessible productions.

 

WHAT: The world premiere of a galvanizing new opera from the Pulitzer Prize-winning team that created Sanctuary Road. Set in and around the Ellis Island immigration inspection station on a single day in 1921, A Nation of Others soars with stories of bravery, resilience, heartbreak, and inspiration from people arriving on our shores and seeking a better life.

 

WHEN: The performances will take place at the Lexington Opera House from Friday, March 6, through Sunday, March 8, 2026.

 

WHERE: The historic 964-seat Lexington Opera House in the heart of downtown Lexington, Kentucky.
