Lexington Center and the Opera House have made a firm commitment to provide each guest with an enjoyable atmosphere in a clean and safe surrounding, making each patron’s visit to our facilities a positive experience.
The historic Opera House offers wheelchair accessible seating to accommodate patrons who have limited mobility, as well as patrons who are blind, visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing. To accommodate the needs of patrons with accessible needs, please refer to the general information below to assist with any questions that you may have. If your need is not addressed, please contact 859-233-3535 for assistance with tickets or other event related needs that you may have.
Accessible Parking
As an historic downtown theatre, the Lexington Opera House does not own public parking spaces. However, the Short Street entrance offers a drop-off and pick-up area with a ramp for convenient wheel-chair access into the building.
Accessible Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are available in the men’s and women’s restrooms located on Level One at the Opera House.
Accessible Ticket
Accessible seating is available for all events at the Lexington Opera House and can be purchased through the Lexington Center Ticket Office (859-233-3535) or through Ticketmaster (800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com). We highly recommend that patrons contact our ticket office directly, as our staff is more intimately knowledgeable about our facilities and we feel they would provide the best service for our patrons with accessible needs. When you are ordering accessible tickets, it is important to indicate that you require accessible seating and provide as much information as possible so that we may properly seat you in a location which best fits your needs.
Accessible And Wheelchair Seating Policy
Accessible seating is reserved exclusively for patrons with accessible needs and their companions. Patrons requiring accessible seating may purchase one (1) accessible seat and up to three (3) companion seats adjacent to the accessible seat. Depending upon availability, seats for additional guests will be located as close as possible to the accessible space. This policy insures that we are able to accommodate all those requiring accessible seating
The Lexington Opera House is committed to working with patrons on a case-by-case basis to adequately accommodate individual needs. All ticket sales are on a first come/call, first serve basis and will depend on ticket availability. There is no guarantee that any companion tickets will remain unsold and available. Elevators
The public elevator is located in the Broadway lobby of the Opera House and services all four levels of the venue. Please note that no ramps to the seating areas are available on levels two and three.
Interpretative Services
The Lexington Opera House will arrange for interpretive services, if notified at the time of purchase. Interpretive services cannot be guaranteed for every event; however we will make every effort to accommodate each request with appropriate advance notice. We request that notices for this service be made a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the event. Patrons should contact the Lexington Center Ticket Office at 859-233-3535 to request this service.
Services Animals / Guide Dogs
“Service animals” will be accommodated at SKyPAC. The ADA regulations provide guidance relating to the definition of service animals, which states, “Service animals are defined as dogs [limited exception, miniature horses] that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities…work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.” Additionally, control of the service animal must be maintained “through voice, signal, or other effective controls” in order not to disrupt other patrons or performances. Loss of control of the animal by the patron, and the proven inability to regain control of that animal, may result in removal of the animal.
Wheelchair Space Locations
Guests who require the use of a wheelchair and their respective companions may enjoy wheelchair space locations available on Level One of the Opera House. Please contact the Lexington Center Ticket Office at 859-233-3535 for seating inquiries or review the event detail section which will include an accurate seating diagram for each respective event.
