Lexington, Kentucky (January 6, 2026) – Rupp Arena, proudly managed by Oak View Group, continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental responsibility by hosting its second Green Game on Wednesday, January 7. In partnership with the University of Kentucky, JMI Sports, Coca-Cola Consolidated, and The Coca-Cola Company, the Kentucky Wildcats’ matchup against Missouri will spotlight sustainability initiatives designed to engage fans and reduce environmental impact.

Building on momentum from earlier sustainability efforts, the Green Game represents another milestone in Rupp Arena’s long-term goal of becoming a premier sustainable sports and entertainment venue. In collaboration with Coca-Cola Consolidated, 18 dual recycling and trash receptacles were introduced throughout the concourse last year to encourage proper recycling of aluminum and plastic bottles. This year, the focus expands to include recycling aluminum cups, which were introduced in 2025. Fans who recycle their aluminum cups will have the opportunity to enter to win tickets, further incentivizing sustainable behavior.

Fans will also be invited to participate in interactive activations throughout the event, including a free throw recycling challenge hosted by Coca-Cola Consolidated. Guests can test their aim by shooting a free throw into recycling receptacles located at sections 11 and 14. An informational table on the concourse will provide additional details on Rupp Arena’s sustainability initiatives, along with ticket giveaways and other fan engagement opportunities.

The second Green Game is part of a broader sustainability strategy at Rupp Arena. Through its involvement with GOAL (Green Operations & Advanced Leadership), a sustainability-driven industry membership, LEED Silver certification, energy efficiency measures, waste reduction programs, and additional environmental initiatives, Rupp Arena continues to create meaningful, lasting impacts for both the local community and the environment.
