LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Blood Center and Central Bank Center are teaming up again for a blood drive. On Thursday, June 26, donors can give blood, save local lives and potentially win big.

As a part of KBC’s Summer of Saving campaign, one lucky donor who gives blood at KBC during June – this drive included – will win free gas for a year (52 $50 Marathon gift cards) through a partnership with Clark’s Pump-N-Shop. Plus, Central Bank Center is offering an opportunity for free concert tickets. All donors who give at the Central Bank Center Blood Drive will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to the Cole Swindell (Sept. 18), Kevin Gates (Oct. 12) and Jonas Brothers (Nov. 1) concerts.

Donors will also receive a “Kentucky Donor” T-shirt, a coupon for a buy one, get one free slice of Hangar 54 Pizza at Clark’s Pump-N-Shop and a $15 Walmart gift card (while supplies last). More information on the gas giveaway is available at kybloodcenter.org/events/summer-of-saving-win-free-gas-for-a-year.

The blood drive will take place June 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Club C of Central Bank Center. Donors will receive a validated parking voucher for the High Street parking lot during their donation.

Blood donations historically dwindle during the summer because of warm-weather activities, family vacations and no school. The need for blood doesn’t take a break, however, and transfusion levels often increase as donation frequency decreases. As a thank you boosting the summer blood supply, KBC hopes to save donors some cash this summer through money-saving giveaways and promotions throughout the summer.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule a donation, visit kybloodcenter.org or call 800.775.2522.
